Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The No. 13-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team welcomes the defending NJCAA men's basketball national champions to the Sports Arena on Saturday night.

The Blue Dragons will play in the Red Ravens in a key KJCCC matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. At halftime, the Blue Dragon Quarterback Club will induct the Class of 2022 into the Hall of Fame.

Hutchinson has been off since last Saturday after a midweek winter storm twice postponed the Blue Dragons' scheduled trip to El Dorado on Wednesday to take on the Butler Grizzlies.

The last time the Blue Dragons were on the court was an 83-80 loss last Saturday at Cowley. The Blue Dragons hit a season-low five 3-pointers and shot only 37.3 percent with 20 turnovers.

The Dragons are experiencing a shooting slump over the last six games. Hutch has shot less than 40 percent of 5 of 6 games. The Dragons are shooting 38.1 overall and 28.3 percent from 3-point range.

Hutchinson is now 1.5 games behind first-place Dodge City in the KJCCC standings with a 12-4 league record.

Coffeyville has recovered from a five-game losing streak that saw the Red Ravens fall three games under .500. With back-to-back wins over Seward County and Barton, the Ravens are over .500 at 11-10 overall and have climbed into a fifth-place tie in the KJCCC with Colby at 8-7.

Coffeyville was able to get its midweek game in and defeated Barton 75-65 on Wednesday at home.

The Blue Dragons got an impressive 21-point, seven-rebound, five-steal effort from Kobe Campbell in their 81-74 victory over Coffeyville in the first meeting of the season on December 8 at Nellis Hall in Coffeyville.

Angelo Stuart buried 5 of 7 3-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead the Blue Dragons. Nate Goodlow had 12 points. the Ravens were led by Dayshawn Wiley's 14 points.

Saturday's matchup will be the 55th meeting between Hutchinson and Coffeyville in a series that dates back to 1929. The Blue Dragons open a 31-23 all-time advantage, including 11-5 in games in Hutchinson and 9-3 at the Sports Arena.
