EPTON, SHERMAN TAPPED WITH KJCCC WEEKLY HONORS

Brandon Epton Jr. is this week's KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week. K'Von Sherman is a repeat Defensive Player of the Week.

Hutchinson Community College football players Brandon Epton Jr. and K'Von Sherman were named the Jayhawk Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week on Tuesday after the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons defeated No. 2 Iowa Western in the 2023 regular-season finale on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

Through 12 weeks of regular-season play, the Blue Dragons have earned 18 conference player of the week awards – seven on offense; seven on defense and four on special teams.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Brandon Epton Jr.
Epton ran for a career-high 122 yards and a key touchdown to help No. 1 Hutchinson defeat No. 2 Iowa Western
Epton was a big part of Hutchinson's 297 total rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns against the Reivers.

Tied at 21-all early in the fourth quarter, Epton found a hole on the right side and sprinted 55 yards for the go-ahead touchdown with 14:05 to play in the final quarter.

Epton averaged 9.4 yards per carry.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – K'Von Sherman
Sherman is a repeat KJCCC Player of the Week winner. Sherman joins Tre Richardson, Tyrell Reed Jr., Samari Collier, Ryan Nolan and Daniel Brown as repeat winners this season.

Sherman had career highs for tackles, tackles for loss and quarterback sacks in No. 1 Hutchinson's victory. Sherman had 10 total tackles.

He had three tackles for loss totaling 10 yards and a career-best 2.5 sacks.
