RYAN NAMED KJCCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR 2ND TIME

Blue Dragon freshman safety Ryan Nolan is this week's KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week.

Coming off his second multi-interception game of the season on Saturday, Hutchinson Community College freshman safety Ryan Nolan was named the Jayhawk Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the second time the 5-foot-11, 185-pound freshman from Gainesville, Florida has won the conference's defensive weekly award. He also won it on September 12 after his three interception game against Iowa Central.

During No. 1 Hutchinson's 13-0 victory over Highland last Saturday, Nolan intercepted two passes to lead a dominant defensive performance by the Blue Dragons. Hutchinson held the Scotties to 131 total yards

Nolan had two total tackles in the Blue Dragons' victory.

Nolan is now the nation's leader in interceptions with six picks.

The Blue Dragons how have earned five KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week awards – Daniel Brown has won it twice and Jordan Scruggs has also won the defensive award. This is Hutchinson's 13 overall conference Player of the Week award this season.

The No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons travel to Independence at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
