Coming off its second bye week of the season, the top-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team returns to action Saturday to meet the Garden City Broncbusters in a Jayhawk Conference showdown at 1 p.m. in Hutchinson's Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons (6-0, 3-0 KJCCC) have won six games in a row to start the season, which ties for the eighth-best start to a season in program history. The Dragons have won 11 consecutive games in Gowans Stadium.

Two weeks ago, the Blue Dragons earned a 46-10 victory over No. 11 Dodge City, Hutchinson's fourth victory over a ranked opponent this season. Tied at 3-3 early in the second quarter, a safety started 23-point run over a span of 4 minutes, 22 seconds to take command of the game.

Tyrell Reed Jr. rushed for four touchdowns and 115 yards to lead the Blue Dragons. Daniel Brown had three quarterback sacks to raise his nation-leading total to 10. Nestus Burger kicked a school-record 50-yard field goal and Cole Segraves kicked his 19th and 20th career field goals to break a program career record.

Garden City (3-4, 2-2 KJCCC) comes off a bye week and an impressive comeback victory two weeks ago at Independence. Trailing the Pirates 23-7 with 12:05 to play in the third quarter, the Broncbusters scored 20 unanswered points, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with 2:09 left in the game on a Keyshawn Buckle 57-yard touchdown reception.

The Blue Dragons continue to lead the nation in scoring defense at 8.0 points per game allowed. The Dragons are No. 2 in the NJCAA in quarterback sacks.

The Blue Dragons have won four consecutive games against Garden City. Last season at Broncbuster Stadium, Hutchinson posted its second-largest margin of victory in series history over the Busters with a 65-7 victory.

Hutchinson tied a single-game record with five interceptions - two each from Ja'Maric Morris and Jalik Thomas. The Blue Dragons produced 34 points off seven Garden City turnovers.

The Blue Dragons had 414 total yards and held Garden City to a negative-three yards rushing and 176 total yards.
