REED EARNS KJCCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

Averaging 19.0 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns last Saturday at Gowans Stadium, Hutchinson Community College freshman running back Tyrell Reed Jr. was named the Jayhawk Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Reed, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound freshman from Topeka, rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns in No. 1 Hutchinson's 72-7 victory over Ellsworth on Saturday.

Reed carried the ball just nine time and averaged 19.0 yards per carry. He scored on touchdown runs of 26, 69 and 20 yards and had four carries of 20 or more yards in the game.

Reed is the second-straight Blue Dragon to earn KJCCC Offensive Player of the Week honors, joining Tre Richardson, who was co-Offensive Player of the Week last week. Reed is the fourth Blue Dragon to earn weekly conference honors. Richardson was also Special Teams Player of the Week and Jordan Scruggs was Defensive Player of the Week.
