RICHARDSON, SCRUGGS EARN KJCCC WEEKLY HONORS

Tre Richardson was named the KJCCC co-Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week. Jordan Scruggs was the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

A pair of Hutchinson Community College football players earned Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors after the Blue Dragons traveled to No. 11 Navarro and defeated the Bulldogs 42-6 on Saturday.

Freshman receiver/return specialist Tre Richardson was named both the co-Offensive Player of the Week and the KJCCC's Special Teams Player of the week after a scintillating Blue Dragon debut. Defensive back Jordan Scruggs was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

TRE RICHARDSON – Co-Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Week
Richardson had one of best debuts in Blue Dragon history on Saturday. The freshman from Topeka accounted for 268 all-purpose yards against the Bulldogs and scored three touchdowns – a 32-yard run, 57-yard reception and a 92-yard kickoff return.

Richardson had 32 rush yards, 93 receiving yards, 113 kickoff return yards and 30 punt return yards The 268 all-purpose yards by Richardson is second in a Blue Dragon debut only to Roger Frazier's 330 all-purpose yards against Dodge City in 2005.

Richardson's third-quarter 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the key play of the game. With Hutchinson leading 14-6 after Navarro took more than 7 minutes off the clock to kick a field goal, Richardson took the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and a 21-6 lead just 12 seconds later.

JORDAN SCRUGGS – Defensive Teams Player of the Week
Scruggs, a sophomore from Overland Park, had a Pick-Six in a dominant defensive performance by Hutchinson.

Scruggs jumped a route for an interceptions and traveled 52 yards untouched for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. Scruggs had two total tackles.

The Blue Dragons defensively held Navarro to two field goals and 236 total yards.
