An early-April loss at Division II Hesston College and dropping 3 of 4 to Jayhawk West co-champion Butler didn't exactly have the 2010 Blue Dragon baseball team running with a lot of confidence entering the 2010 postseason. HCC was 30-21 and only four games over .500 in league play at the end of the regular season. After one inning of the postseason, Hutchinson trailed Allen County 3-0.
But sometime during that early morning start against Allen County in the Overland Park Region VI sub-regional, the Blue Dragons found themselves and the 2010 postseason became one thrill ride after another. The 2010 postseason featured three extra-inning games and amazing comeback after comeback to to reach Grand Junction. In the 2010 postseason, Hutchinson trailed in 9 of its 12 postseason games and rallied to win seven of them. Once at the World Series, the 2010 Blue Dragons became the toast of Grand Junction by playing the game the "Blue Dragon Way."
Hutchinson finished third in the 2010 World Series, the best finish in program history. You can re-live all the moments of that incredible postson run from Andrew Dixon scoring from second base on a wild pitch to beat Cowley to the offensive explosion against Chattanooga State in the World Series opener. Selected games have the full audio broadcasts from KWHK-FM and the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
