2005 NJCAA World Series

About the only thing that the Hutchinson Community College baseball team hadn't achieved in its 30-year history to that point in time was reach Grand Junction, Colorado, and the NJCAA World Series. In 1998, the Blue Dragons were within one game of going to Grand Junction, but fell short to a Cowley team that won the World Series that season.

As the 2005 season rolled around at Hobart-Detter Field, Kyle Crookes was in his first year as head coach and he had a roster full of Reno County players that produced a 32-19 regular-season record. The Blue Dragons finished in a four-way tie for the 2005 Jayhawk Conference Championship and wound up with the No. 1 seed for the 2005 Region VI Tournament.

From a scare by Neosho County in Game 1 of the sub-regionals, through the dramatic comebacks at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, to the program's first-ever trip to Grand Junction, you can follow the postseason run of the 2005 Blue Dragon baseball team right here.
