WACO, Texas – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team saw its eight-game winning streak to start the season come to an end as the No. 11 McLennan Highlanders swept the first two games of a weekend three-game set at Bosque River Ballpark.

McLennan ended the Blue Dragons' third-longest win streak to start a season in team history with victories of 4-1 and 6-1 on Friday in Games 1 and 2.

Now 8-2 for the season, the Blue Dragons will complete the three-game series with McLennan at Noon on Saturday in the series finale.

GAME 1 RECAP – McLennan 4, Hutchinson 1
The Blue Dragons were limited to a season-low two hits and were out-hit 8-2.

Kael Babin had a single in the third inning. Cody Gunderson led off the sixth with a solo home run for his third home run of the season.

The Blue Dragons loaded the bases in the fourth with an error and two hit batsmen, but were unable to score. The Dragons stranded seven runners on base.

Ethan Giesbrecht (1-1) was the losing pitcher, working 5 1-3 innings. Giesbrecht allowed eight hits and four earned runs with six strikeouts and one walk. Jacob Hadden retired both batters he faces with one strikeout.

McLennan scored single runs in the second and fourth innings and two runs in the sixth.

GAME 2 RECAP – McLennan 6, Hutchinson 1
Three McLennan pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts and allowed five hits to the Blue Dragons in the second game.

Luis Pimentel-Guerrero went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored to lead Hutchinson offensively. Pimentel-Guerrero doubled in the seventh and singled in the ninth. He scored Hutchinson's lone run in the ninth when he moved up to second on balk and scored on a throwing error by the Highlanders.

Colin Cymbalista had a triple while Gunderson and Cooper Wesslund both had singles.

Sam Ojeda (1-1) started and suffered his first loss of the season Ojeda worked 4 2-3 innings and allowed three earned runs and six hits with five strikeouts. Caden Wanless finished out the sixth inning. Gus McKay struck out two in two scoreless innings.

Combined in the doubleheader, seven Blue Dragon batters were hit with pitches, brining Hutchinson's season total to 43 in the first 10 games of the season.
