ARKANSAS CITY – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team couldn't sustain the offensive momentum from Thursday's doubleheader split against Cowley College on Saturday at Tiger Field.

The Blue Dragons were limited to a combined 10 hits in a doubleheader loss to the Tigers. Cowley won both games Saturday 6-0 and 9-5.

Hutchinson dropped to 20-22 after dropping the series to Cowley 3-1. The Blue Dragons play host to the Sterling College Junior Varsity at 4 p.m. on Monday in a single game Hobart-Detter Field. Cowley is now 27-12.

GAME 1 RECAP
Cody Gunderson went 3 for 3 to lead the Blue Dragons in Game 1. Jack Gardner had the only other hit allowed by Cowley pitching. The Blue Dragons were shut out for only the second time this season.

Cowley starting pitcher Bridgon Parker struck out seven and walked none.

Ethan Giesbrecht (2-2) started was suffered the loss for Hutchinson. Giesbrecht went four innings and allowed eight hits and four runs.

Gus McKay and Jackson Blue both worked one inning of relief.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Blue Dragons dug a big early hole as Cowley scored six runs in the first inning.

Hutchinson cut that deficit in half when both Max Childress and Will Edmunson scored on wild pitches and Ryan Henderson doubled home Gunderson in the third inning.

Down 9-3 in the fifth, the Dragons plated two more runs when Gunderson's RBI double scored pinch runner Jon Davis and Henderson's RBI groundout scored Edmonson to cut the Cowley lead to 9-5.

The Blue Dragons had six hits by six different players. Henderson had a double and two RBIs. Gunderson had a double and RBI. Edmunson, A.J. Mustow, Gardner and Childress all had singles.

Cole Toureau (0-7) started and look the loss for the Dragons. Ben Dandelet pitched three innings. Kaden Wickersham worked four scoreless innings with one hit and a walk. Wickersham struck out a career-high nine batters.
