Sophomore outfielder Will Edmunson had a memorable 2023 Opening Day, going 7 for 8 to lead the Blue Dragons to a pair of victories over Southeast Community College on Saturday at Hobart-Detter Field.

The Jayhawk Conference recognized the sophomore from Luther, Oklahoma as the league's Player of the Week.

Edmunson started his day on Saturday by going 2 for 3. He hit a key two-run home run in the fifth inning as part of a three-run frame for the Dragons after Southeast had pulled within one run.

Then in Game 2, Edmunson became the first Blue Dragon with a five-hit game since Luke Sartori in 2020, going 5 for 5 with two runs and three stolen bases in a come-from-behind 10-7 victory in Game 2. Down 10-6 entering the eighth inning, Edmunson had a go-ahead RBI single in the four-run eighth inning.

The Blue Dragons then went to Southeast on Monday and Edmunson had two straight hits to start Game 1 and started the season going 9 for 10.
