Hutchinson CC Sports Information

After going 2-2 at the Sheila Worley Invitational in Sterling, Colorado over the weekend, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team remained at No. 17 in the NJCAA national rankings, which were released Monday.

Hutchinson fell to the fourth and fifth-ranked teams in the nation in Indian Hills and Western Nebraska, while defeating Casper College and No. 19 Northeastern Junior College. The Blue Dragons swept Casper 3-0 and beat Northeastern 3-1.

The Blue Dragons are on the road for a Wednesday night Jayhawk West battle at Colby, which starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Colby Events Center. Colby is 8-4 overall with all four losses coming in Jayhawk West play. Hutchinson is currently 15-5, 3-1 in the conference and have won 5 of its last 7 games.

Florida Southwestern owns the No. 1 ranking for the fourth week in a row and received all first place votes, sitting at a 9-0 record. Indians Hills, who the Blue Dragons have lost to in both meetings so far this season, went from No. 4 to No. 2. Salt Lake is ranked at No. 4, and Western Nebraska, who topped Hutchinson 3-1 in Colorado, is fifth.

Seward County is the highest-ranked Jayhawk West team at No. 12. Butler received votes in this week's rankings.

The Blue Dragons are 3-5 this season against nationally ranked competition with two wins over Top 3 teams.
