WICHITA – The Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team had several program career Top 10 performances and three more individuals qualify for the NJCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at the Herm Wilson Invitational at the Heskett Center at Wichita State University.

Freshman Kaylee James placed third in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds, qualifying her for nationals in the event. James posted the fourth-best 60-meter hurdle time in Blue Dragon women's indoor history.

Freshmen Taylor Hoskinson and Gracie Lambert both qualified for nationals in the 1,000-meter run. Hoskinson placed fifth on Saturday with a time of 3:08.99 and Lambert took seventh with a time of 3:11.89. Hoskinson time was the third best in team history in the 1,000. Lambert finished with the fifth-best time in Blue Dragon history.

Freshman Madelyn Hernandez finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.46 seconds, which is now the seventh best indoor time in team history. The Goddard product also took fourth in the women's high jump with a mark 5 feet, 5 inches (1.65 meters), which tied for the fifth-best height cleared in team indoor history. She has already qualified for nationals in the high jump.

Freshman Serenity Larson crossed the finish line in seventh place in the 3,000-meter run, good for third-best in team history in the event.

The Blue Dragon women had two other Top-10 finishes on Saturday.

Freshman Ellie Van Zelfden placed 10th in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:16.22.

The Blue Dragon women's 4x400-meter relay team finished in fourth. The relay team of James, Keneah Romney, Hoskinson and Lambert finished with a time of 4:10.17.

The Blue Dragon indoor track and field team travels to Topeka Friday and Saturday for the Washburn Open.
