WICHITA – Sophomore distance runner Louise Cocking qualified nationals in her third event and thrower Lushous Davis PR'ed for the second time this season to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's track and field team at the Wichita State Herm Wilson Classic on Saturday at the Heskett Center.

For the third-straight meet, Cocking qualified for the NJCAA Indoor national championships in March with a third-place finish in the Mile Run. Cocking's time of 5:23.15 is also the second-fastest indoor Mile time in Blue Dragon history.

Cocking has now qualified in the Mile and the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. She has three of the Blue Dragons' four national qualifying marks for the 2022 indoor season. Pole vaulter Kiana Brown is the other national qualifier.

Davis, a sophomore, posted her second PR of the season in the women's weight throw and she posted her career-best event finish with a fourth-place effort at WSU. Davis threw 44 feet, 5.5 inches.

The Blue Dragons had several strong performances in the middle-distance races on Saturday.

Sophomore Noel Buckhaults placed ninth in the Mile Run and posted the seventh-best Blue Dragon time in the event at 5:31.09.

Freshman Keneah Romney was fifth in the 600 meters at 1;46.85. Courtney Baetz was eighth in the event at 1:54.16.

Freshman Anastasia Meyer was 10th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.83.

Freshman Michelle Gage placed 10th in the 3,000 meters with a time of 12:12.18.

Sophomore Patrisha Doll placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 36-feet, 6.75 inches. She placed 1th in the weight throw at 39-11.5.

Freshman Gabi Unruh was 10th in the high jump after clearing 4-9.75.

Brown placed 10th in the pole vault at 10-0.5.

Sophomore Hannah Schrock was 10th in the shot put at 36-4.75.

The Blue Dragons will have next week off before the 2022 Region VI Indoor Championships on Feb. 19-20 at the Plaster Center in Pittsburg.
