The No. 19-ranked Hutchinson Community College Women's Soccer Team will open the postseason on Sunday at home.
The Blue Dragons (11-3) will open the 2022 Region VI Tournament against Johnson County (8-10) at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Salthawk Sports Complex. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.
The Blue Dragons qualified for their 18th-straight postseason after finishing second in the Jayhawk West this season. Johnson County placed third in the Jayhawk East. The winner of the
Hutchinson-Johnson County match will play the Butler-Dodge City winner at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Stryker Soccer Complex in Wichita.
The Blue Dragons lost the only meeting with Johnson County this season, falling 3-1 on September 17 in Overland Park. The Dragons took a 1-0 lead in the first half, but Johnson County tied the match before halftime and scored two second-half goals to clinch the victory.
The Blue Dragons have dropped seven straight and 8 of 9 to the Cavaliers. This will be the ninth Region VI tournament meeting, but the first in the opening round. The Dragons are 2-6 against Johnson County in the Region VI Tournament.
Hutchinson is 13-4 all-time in the opening-round of the Region VI Tournament, including 9-2 at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
