Blue Dragon Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team goes after its seventh-straight victory on Wednesday when the Blue Dragons play host to the Pratt Beavers.

The Blue Dragons (16-4, 10-4 KJCCC) and the Beavers (10-9, 5-9) will tip off at 5:30 p.m. at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network and broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m.

A victory on Wednesday would match the Blue Dragons' longest winning streak of the season when Hutchinson started the season 7-0. A victory would also extend a few others winning streaks - 11-straight wins at the Sports Arena and 16-straight wins over Pratt.

In order to do that, the Blue Dragons will be tasked with slowing down the nation's leading scorer in Pratt's Princess Anderson, who is averaging 24.7 points per game this season. Anderson has six 30-point games this season, including a stretch of three games where she went for 35, 35 and 38 points.

The Blue Dragons extended their current winning streak to six after a strong 75-56 victory over Cloud County on Sunday at the Sports Arena. Mya Williams had 23 points and became the sixth Blue Dragon to reach the 1,000-point scoring mark for a career. Journey Armstead added 17 points and Kali Howard had 13 for the Dragons.

Defense continues to lead the way for the Blue Dragons. Over the last six games, the Dragons have allowed 57.0 points and 36.0 percent shooting while forcing 20.8 turnovers per game. The Dragons have forced 20 or more turnovers in 4 of the past 6 games.

Pratt comes into the game on a four-game losing streak and on short rest after losing 72-58 to Northwest Tech in a game scheduled for Saturday but moved to Monday because of weather.

The Beavers were off to a 10-5 start and were one of the top offenses in the Jayhawk Conference. Pratt is still No. 2 in the league in scoring at 73.5 points per game.

The Blue Dragons look to complete the season sweep of Pratt after defeating the Beavers 74-57 on November 22 in Pratt. Morgan Browning led the Dragons in that game with 19 points. Anderson had 21 points to lead Pratt.
