For this second time this season, Hutchinson Community College freshman pitcher Riley Wertz was named the Jayhawk Conference's Division I Pitcher of the Week.

Wertz, a freshman from Wichita, had a tremendous weekend out of the bullpen, picking up a pair of victories to move her season record to 3-0. For the week, Wertz threw 9 2-3 scoreless innings with 17 strikeouts and only one walk with two hits allowed.

Against Murray State, Wertz pitched the final 4 2-3 innings in Hutchinson's 6-4, 10-inning victory over the Aggies. She came into the game with in the sixth with the score tied and two runners in scoring position, getting out of the jam with a pair of strikeouts. Wertz finished with 11 strikeouts in 4 2-3 innings.

Wertz threw four hitless shutout innings in a come-from-behind 6-5 win over North Central Texas. She had four strikeouts.

Wertz was also the league's Pitcher of the Week in Week 1.
