Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College men's and women's track and field teams will open the 2022 indoor season on Saturday at the All-Kansas Invitational at Washburn University in Topeka.

The Blue Dragons were supposed to open the season last Saturday, but weren't able to attend the Rust Buster Invitational, also in Topeka.

The All-Kansas field consists of 19 teams from NCAA Division I and Division I as well as Jayhawk Conference and NAIA programs.

In addition to Hutchinson, other KJCCC teams to compete are Colby, Highland, Dodge City, Garden City, Cowley, Cloud County and Pratt.

Sterling College, Bethel College, Friends University, Ottawa University, McPherson College, Haskell Indian Nations University, Kansas Christian and Baker University are the NAIA programs. The field is rounded out by Fort Hays State and host Washburn as well as Wichita State University.

Blue Dragon head coach Robert Spies begins his third season with the Hutchinson program.

Last year, the Blue Dragon men finished seventh in Region VI in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Only one national qualifier returns from last season, but the Blue Dragon men return 12 athletes for 2022.

The Blue Dragon women have three returning NJCAA All-Americans and eight returnees from an eighth-place indoor Region VI finish and ninth-place outdoor finish.
