DAY 1 SHOCKER INVITE RESULTS

WICHITA – After a roller-coaster of a day at Crestview Country Club's North Course, the No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team is tied for third after two rounds of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational.

The Blue Dragons are tied with Drake University for third place after 36 holes on Monday 6-over 574. The Dragons are five strokes off the pace set by Wichita State, which shot 569. Utah Valley State is second at 571.

Hutchinson opened the tournament with a morning round of 8-over 292. The Blue Dragons were as low as 6-under in the first 18 holes. The Blue Dragons were as low as 8-under in the second round and finished at 2-under 282, a 10-stroke improvement from the morning round.

The final round will start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Crestview North.

Freshman Louis Galvin is the low Blue Dragon after 36 holes. Galvin is tied for third at 2-under 140. Galvin had an opening-round 69 with four birdies and two bogeys. Galvin finished the day with an even-par 71. Galvin is tied with Wichita State's Dawson Lewis and South Dakota's Nick Lamotte.

Saffell and freshman Alex Lindstrom are both tied for 12th at 1-over 143.

Lindstrom had rounds of 71 and 72 on Monday. Lindstrom had a pair of eagles, one in each round on Monday.

Saffell turned his tournament around after a 6-over 77 in the opening round. Saffell carded seven birdies in a 5-under round of 66 in the afternoon round.

Sophomore Dominic Clemons is tied for 35th at 148 after rounds of 73 and 75.

Freshman Louis Ross is tied for 55th at 153 after rounds of 79 and 74.

Freshman Joey Langstraat, playing as an individual, is tied for 46th at 151 after rounds of 76 and 75.

Indian Hills is the only other NJCAA team in the Shocker Invitational field. The Warriors are tied for fifth at 579.
