Khalil Ward is the assistant defensive backs coach for Blue Dragon football.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ward moves into collegiate coaching after several successful years of coaching high school football in the state of North Carolina.

From 2020-22, Ward was the defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, North Carolina. He was also the head track and field coach at Rocky River.

Ward mentored multiple all-conference defensive backs. As the head track coach, Ward produced two individual North Carolina state champions.

Previous to Rocky River, Ward was the defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator at East Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Again producing multiple all-league defensive backs, Ward guided three conference defensive backs in 2019.

Ward played collegiately at Winston-Salem State University from 2012 to 2016. Ward played on conference championship teams in 2012 and 2015. The 2012 Winston-Salem State team is the winningest team in program history and won the HBCU national championship.

A 2012 graduate of Rocky River High School, Ward earned a bachelor of science degree in Sports Management from Winston-Salem State University in 2017. He completed his masters in sports management, coaching and athletic administration from Liberty University in 2022.
