Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College football team moved into the top spot of the NJCAA Division I Football Rankings on Monday after Saturday's 47-14 road win over Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons are one of four teams at 6-0 in this week's national rankings, along with No. 2 Iowa Western, No. 3 Northwest Mississippi and No. 4 Jones. The Dragons are alone in first place in the Jayhawk Conference with a 3-0 record.

This is the third time the Blue Dragons have been ranking No. 1 in the national rankings.

Hutchinson was first ranked No. 1 for five weeks in the 2019 season and then went wire-to-wire in 2020/21, winning the program's first national championships. The Blue Dragons were preseason No. 1 last season, but was upset in the season opener by Coffeyville.

The Blue Dragons now hold the longest current winning streak in the NJCAA with 12 in a row dating back to last season. New Mexico Military's 11-game win streak was snapped in a 20-12 loss to Tyler Junior College Saturday. The Broncos dropped to fifth in this week's rankings.

Butler climbed two spots to No. 8 after a 77-14 win over McDougal Technical Institute. Coffeyville stunned Iowa Central 47-30 and moved up to No. 12 in the rankings. Iowa Central dropped from seventh to No. 10. Garden City is receiving votes.
