Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College Football team starts the second half of the 2022 season with the beginning of a two-game road trip when the Blue Dragons square off against the Dodge City Conquistadors.

Hutchinson (5-0, 2-0 KJCCC) and Dodge City (2-3, 1-2) kickoff at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons have maintained their No. 2 national ranking for the fifth-consecutive week after a pair of tough Jayhawk Conference road victories at Coffeyville two weeks ago and a 27-19 win over No. 9 Butler last weekend at Gowans Stadium.

Third-year sophomore Dylan Kedzior had a career night with 230 rushing yards (234 total yards) and four total touchdowns last week against the Grizzlies. Kedzior was named the Jayhawk Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week and the Claremore, Oklahoma, native was named the NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week this past Wednesday.

The victory was Hutchinson's 11th-straight win dating back to last season. The current win streak is now the third-longest in program history.

The Blue Dragons have won five-consecutive games over the Conquistadors after a 49-17 win last season at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City. Quarterback Dylan Laible threw for 363 yards and five touchdowns in last year's game. Receiver Malik Benson had five receptions for 187 yards and a score against the Conquistadors.

Dodge City is 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Jayhawk Conference for first-year head coach Terry Karg entering play on Saturday. The Conquistadors dropped a 40-7 decision to Garden City last Saturday in Garden City. Dodge City had 200 yards of total offense, getting 120 yards through the air from quarterback DeRhon King. Garden City scored the first 28 points of the game before Dodge City scored on a Kam'Ryn Thomas 5-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.

There will be a record watch going on with the Blue Dragons on Saturday. Laible is just three passing yards shy of surpassing Luke Barnes as Hutchinson Football's career leading in passing yards. Barnes threw for 4,706 yards in 2012 and 2013. Laible has 4,704 career passing yards heading into Saturday's game with Dodge City.
