Hutchinson CC Sports Information

After a third-straight victory over a nationally ranked opponent on its home field this season, the Hutchinson Community College Football team's spot in the NJCAA national rankings remained unchanged.

The Blue Dragons remained No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Division I National Rankings for the fifth week in a row. The Blue Dragons moved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the KJCCC after topping then-No. 9 Butler Grizzlies 27-19 on Saturday at Gowans Stadium.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in nine-consecutive polls dating back to last season. Hutchinson started the season ranked No. 3 in the preseason rankings and moved into No. 2 after week 1. The Dragons are 3-0 against nationally ranked teams this season.

The Top 7 teams in the rankings saw move movement. New Mexico Military Institute had a bye week and stayed as the top ranked team in the nation. The Broncos received seven first-place votes and the Blue Dragons had three. Iowa Western is No. 3, Northwest Mississippi is No. 4 and Jones is No. 5 in the rankings.

Butler fell one spot to No. 10. Coffeyville leaped back into the Top 15 after beating Ellsworth 31-7.

The Blue Dragons travel to Dodge City for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.
