An alumnus of Hutchinson Community College, Sami (Bell) Cox is in her third season as head coach of the Blue Dragon Spirit Squad.

Bell was the Spirit Squad assistant coach in the 2020-21 season. She was a student and cheerleader in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons for coach Manda Holmes.

In her first season leading the Blue Dragon Spirit Squad, the teams earned two Region VI championships – Large Coed Division and Dance Team Hip-Hop.

The Blue Dragons earned their first trip to NCA College Nationals for the first time in 15 years in 2023. The Blue Dragons finished fourth in the Small Coed Advanced Division.

The 2023 Blue Dragons also finished second in the Region VI Championship Small Coed Advanced Division. The Dragon Dolls were second in the Jazz division and fourth in the Hip-Hop Division.

Between her HutchCC graduation and return to the Blue Dragons, Bell coached with three different cheer programs.

Bell was the head coach for the Senior Level 2 group for the Rockstar-NC East: Prodigy team. Bell took that group to the 2018 NCA Nationals.

In 2019, she was the Rockstar-NC East: No Doubt Junior Level 3 team that completed in the 2019 Cheersport Nationals. She was also the Point Loma (California) High School junior varsity cheer coach. That group competed in the 2019 California State Nationals competition.

While at Hutchinson Community College, Bell was part of a 2016 Region VI championship Blue Dragon Cheer Squad.

Born in Salina, Bell graduated from Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Texas in 2014. She writes her own nutrition, beauty/fashion and healthy lifestyle blog. She was married to Spencer Cox in December of 2023 and the couple is expecting their first child in January of 2024.
