The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team was held to a season-low four shot attempts as No. 12 Cowley College prevailed 1-0 in a Jayhawk Conference matchup on Wednesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

The Blue Dragons fall to 5-3-2 overall and in league play. Cowley is now 9-1-1. Hutchinson is 0-1-1 vs. the nationally ranked Tigers this season.

Minus forward Esther Karhayu, who missed Wednesday's game because of injury, the Blue Dragons weren't able to generate many scoring chances against the Tigers.

The Dragons were able to muster only four total shots and only two shots got through to Cowley goalkeeper Makayla Farquharsen.

Cowley outshot the Blue Dragons 22-4. The last time Hutchinson was held to four or fewer shots for the first time September 17, 2016 when Navarro held the Blue Dragons to four shots. This is only the seventh time in program history to have four or fewer shots taken in a game.

The only Blue Dragons to get shots on goal were Lani Dickinson and Caitlin Hurst.

Through the first 30 minutes, neither team could produce many offensive chances, but in the 32nd minute, the Dragons lost control of the ball near midfield. Cowley's Lucia Fernandez chipped a pass behind the Blue Dragon defense that Natalia Lima chased down and beat Hutch goalkeeper Kambrian Colborn for the game's only goal with 23:38 to play in the first half.

Colborn, who was named the NJCAA National Goalkeeper of the Week earlier on Wednesday made four saves.

The Blue Dragons played a solid second half defensively, turning away four Cowley chances on corner kicks in the second half. Colborn made two saves in the second half.

Wednesday's victory was the first for Cowley in 14 games over Hutchinson. The Blue Dragons are 12-1-1 all-time against Cowley.
