Freshman Sydney Blackwell scored a pair of goals to lead the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win over the Pratt Beavers on Sophomore Recognition Night pm Wednesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Hutchinson posted its fourth-straight shutout, the 10th of the season and 149th all-time shutout. The Dragons haven't allowed a goal in 271 minutes.

The Blue Dragons also defeated Pratt for the 12th time in 12 all-time meetings and own a 99-0 aggregate score over the Beavers.

Now 12-2-1 overall and 10-2-1 (31 points) in the Jayhawk Conference, the Blue Dragons secure third place in the Jayhawk West. Hutchinson travels to new conference leader Cloud County at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Concordia. The Blue Dragons will open the Region VI Tournament on the road, likely at Johnson County on October 25.

Blackwell extended her streak of at least one point in game to six with her second multi-goal game of the season. She has scored goals in 3 of the last 4 Blue Dragon games.

Blackwell scored a pair of first-half goals in the 13th and 36th minutes to give Hutch a 2-0 lead. Ashley Venegas and Naomi Waithira had the assists on Blackwell's goals.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Sabala had a memorable final home game with her fourth goal of the year on a Venegas assist in the 71st minute.

With two assists on Wednesday, Venegas has scored at least one point in six-straight games and has six assists in her last three games.

The Blue Dragons out-shot Prat 24-1 and had 10 corner kicks to Pratt's one.

Blue Dragon goalkeeper Taylor Camp improved her record to 11-2-1 with her ninth shutout of the season. She made one save in the second half.

Pratt goalkeeper Haven Johannsen had six saves in the game.

After the game, the Blue Dragons honored the six sophomores – Sabala, Brailey Moeder, Hailey Burke, Megan Maslak, Yadira Delgado and Alix Miller – who played their final home game at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
