Coming off their fourth-straight Region VI Tournament opening-round bye, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team opens the 2023 postseason on Tuesday with the Coffeyville Red Ravens.

The fourth-seeded Blue Dragons (23-7) and fifth-seeded Red Ravens (19-2) tip off their 2023 Region VI Tournament quarterfinal game at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The game will be broadcast live on KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Steve Carpenter (PBP) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action beginning at 5:15 p.m. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:15 p.m.

The Blue Dragon women make their 46th appearance and 22nd consecutive in the Region VI Tournament. The Blue Dragons are the defending Region VI Champions and will most likely have to win the 2023 title to advance to the NJCAA Tournament.

Tuesday's matchup with Coffeyville will be the 10th postseason matchup with the Red Ravens. Coffeyville leads the postseason series 6-3. This is the first Region VI meeting between the two teams since the 2015 Region VI Tournament championship game, a 66-58 victory by the Blue Dragons.

Hutchinson has had six days off since a 72-65 victory over Garden City in the regular-season finale last Wednesday at the Sports Arena. That was the Blue Dragons' fourth-straight victory and fifth win in the last six games.

Coffeyville advanced to the quarterfinals with an 80-69 home victory over Pratt in the opening round on Saturday. The Ravens have won 4 of their last 5 games.

The Blue Dragons swept the season series with Coffeyville this season and have won three games in a row over the Ravens.

Hutchinson won the first meeting on December 8, defeating Coffeyville 64-46. Mya Williams had 25 points and the Dragons held the Ravens to 31.9 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers.

The second meeting was much different as the Blue Dragons had to rally from 18 points down in the final 12 1/2 minutes to defeat Coffeyville 68-63. Monae Duffy scored 23 points to pace the Blue Dragons. Jordynn Conner had 20 points to lead Coffeyville. That comeback was the second largest rally in the John Ontjes era.
