Monae Duffy is named the KJCCC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Back-to-back double-doubles, including just the second 20-20 game in Blue Dragon women's basketball history, propelled Hutchinson Community College freshman forward Monae Duffy to her first Jayhawk Conference Division I Women's Basketball Player of the Week award on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11 freshman from Lafayette, Louisiana had 19 points and 14 rebounds in an 80-41 victory against Colby last Tuesday. She the carried the Blue Dragons to a big home victory over Northwest Tech and a career-high 25 points and 20 rebounds, her second 20-rebound game of the season.

Duffy joins Ariella McGhee as the only players in Blue Dragon women's history to have 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game. Duffy now owns 2 of the 5 all-time 20-rebound games in team history. 'For the week, Duffy averaged 22.0 points and 17.0 rebounds while shooting 52.8 percent from the field. She also averaged 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocked shots.

This is the third time a Blue Dragon player has won a conference player of the week award this season. Mya Williams has won the award twice this season.
