Then Hutchinson traveled to Goodland to meet Northwest Tech on January 4, that was a much-different looking Maverick team then. Missing some key people because of injuries, the Blue Dragons defeated the depleted Northwest Tech team 81-52.

The Northwest Tech team coming to the Sports Arena just pulled off one of the biggest wins in program history with a dominant 80-63 victory over Seward County on Thursday in Goodland. The Mavericks have now won three games in a row and 5 of their last 8 outings.

Northwest Tech's win over the Saints gave the Blue Dragons some help in Jayhawk Conference as Hutchinson now has a two-game lead over the Saints for fourth place in the KJCCC. Each team has three games to play and Hutchinson travels to meet the Saints on Wednesday in Liberal.

The Blue Dragons rebounded by exploding to a 24-4 third quarter on Tuesday to down Colby 80-41. The Blue Dragons reached the 20-win plateau for the 31st time in the program's 49-year history.

Freshman Monae Duffy had 19 points and 14 rebounds to pace the Blue Dragons. Kali Howard scored 15 points and Mia Williams added 12 points.

Back on January 4 in Goodland, the Blue Dragons shot nearly 50 percent with nine 3-point goals in their 81-52 victory over the Mavericks. Duffy and Williams scored 16 points each while Journey Armstead added 15 points. Mariam Sanogo had 14 points to pace the Mavericks.
