Hutchinson CC Sports Information

After a highly successful 3-0 homestand, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team is back on the road Saturday to take on the Pratt Beavers.

Tipoff for the Jayhawk Conference contest has been moved up to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Pratt's Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. The game time was moved up 3 1/2 hours because the Hutchinson-Pratt men's game was postponed until February 21.

The Blue Dragons (16-4, 10-4 KJCCC) enters the game on a three-game winning streak. The Dragons won home games over Garden City, Independence and Cloud County by an average of 18.3 points per game to improve to 12-0 at the Sports Arena.

Now the Blue Dragons will try to solve their road woes. Hutchinson is 2-4 in true road games.

At home, Hutchinson is averaging 72.9 points per game, while shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, while allowing 50.0 points per game. Those numbers change dramatically in road games for the Blue Dragons. Hutchinson scores 65.8 points, but shoots only 36.7 percent and allows 66.8 points per game.

The first meeting of the season between Hutchinson and Pratt happened at the Sports Arena, but it wasn't one of the Dragons' best overall performances. The Blue Dragons defeated Pratt 64-57 on November 23 in Hutchinson. The Dragons led 27-11 after one quarter and had leads as large as 17 early in the second quarter. The Dragons shot only 28 percent over the final three quarters as Pratt pulled as close as four points early in the fourth quarter.

Mya Williams finished with 19 points to lead Hutchinson in the first game against Pratt. Tor'e Alford had 17 points and five assists while Natalie Payne added 11 points. Chariah Daniels had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead Pratt.

Alford had 17 points and seven rebounds in the Blue Dragons' 79-59 win over Cloud County on Wednesday at Hutchinson. The Beavers lost their 10th-straight game in a 75-66 setback at Northwest Tech on Wednesday.
