Hutchinson CC Sports Information
Off to a 13-1 start and working on a seven-game winning streak, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team has moved into the Top 5 of the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Rankings.
Following Saturday's 81-51 win over Allen at the Sports Arena, the Blue Dragons jumped three spots to No. 4 in the first poll of 2020.
This is the first Top 5 national ranking for the Blue Dragons since their No. 3 ranking on January 29, 2019.
The Blue Dragons continue to be the highest-ranked Jayhawk Conference team. Seward County (10-3) is ranked No. 13 and Butler (11-5) returns to the rankings at No. 25.
The top two teams in the nation remain the same with Gulf Coast State and South Plains at Nos 1 and 2, respectively. Trinity Valley suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a game to New Mexico and falls from No. 3 to No. 6.
Chipola (16-1), Hutchinson and Tyler (12-2) round out the Top 5.
The Blue Dragons step out of league play on Wednesday to meet the Bethany College junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. at the Sports Arena. Hutchinson will then be tested with a road trip to Jayhawk East leader Cowley on Saturday in Arkansas City.
The Blue Dragons have been ranked in 28 consecutive polls and for the 129th poll in the last 134 ranking periods.
