EL DORADO – Freshman Connor Kaufman led the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Ollie Isom Invitational on Monday at Wartick Farms.

The Blue Dragons ran an average time of 27:55.58 over the 8K course on Monday. The Dragons finished fifth in their final race before the Region VI Championships with 117 points. Cloud County was the team champion with 32 points. Cowley was second with 60, Bacone College was third with 64 and host Butler was fourth with 70 points.

FINAL MEN'S RESULTS

Kaufman was one of two Blue Dragons to finish in the Top 20 with a 14th-place time of 27 minutes, 17.40 seconds.

Freshman Jared Stark placed 18th in 27:24.78.

Three more freshmen figured in the team scoring for Hutchinson on Monday. Kade Gerlach was 28th with a time of 28:15.93. Tony Ibarra was 31st with a time of 28:18.93. Gavin Alexander was 32nd with a time of 28:20.87.

Grant Clothier made it three-consecutive Dragons to cross the finish line. He was 33rd with a time of 28:21.05. Myles Hansen placed 40th in 29:05.96. Alec Perrone was 49th with a time of 29:44.30.

The next race for Hutchinson will be the 2017 Region VI Cross Country Championships on Monday, October 30 in Garden City.
