ENID, Oklahoma – The Hutchinson Community College baseball team took advantage of four NOC-Enid errors and seven pitchers combined to strike out 11 as the Blue Dragons defeated Northern Oklahoma College-Enid 6-4 on Tuesday at Allen Memorial Ballpark.

The Blue Dragons, now 2-1, will play at Rose State College in a three-game series this weekend in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Hutchinson racked up eight total hits led by Ben McLaughlin's 2 for 5 performance with a double. Bryce Logan also went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.

The Blue Dragons to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Cade Baker started the scoring with a two-run double in the second and scored on Logan's RBI single.

The Jets scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but pitcher Zane Covey made sure the Blue Dragons kept the lead with two strikeouts, stranding the potential game-tying run in scoring position.

The final three Blue Dragon runs were all unearned.

Logan reached on an error in the top of the sixth to plate Ryan Henderson for a 4-2 lead. Then in the sixth, Baker scored in the eighth inning on a throwing error from a Jack Torosian sacrifice bunt for a 5-2 lead. Booga de la Garza closed the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the eighth to plate Logan.

Sophomore Chase Torkelson started and worked the first two innings with two strikeouts and only one hit allowed. Brady Beverman worked a 1-2-3 third inning. Covey pitched the fourth and fifth and allowed two runs, but struck out three.

Ryan Schlotzhauer, Reed Scott and Will Edmunson each worked a scoreless inning in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Kaden Wickersham allowed two hits and two runs in the ninth, but closed the game out.
